Legendary Comedian Don Rickles Dead At 90

Legendary comedian Don Rickles died Thursday morning at age 90, his publicist Paul Shefrin has confirmed.

Rickles died of kidney failure in his Los Angeles area home, with wife Barbara by his side.

Known best for his insult comedy, “Mr. Warmth” shot to fame in the 1960s, making regular appearances on The Tonight Show and The Dean Martin Show.

He became an honorary Rat Pack member and was masterful at roasting celebrities at the many Friar’s Club roasts he attended. One of his most famous performances was his roast of President Ronald Reagan, at Reagan’s second Inaugural Ball in 1985.

Rickles began performing in Las Vegas in the 1980s and became a mainstay in Sin City for several years.

Rickles rose to fame for a new generation of fans in the 1990s when he voiced Mr. Potato Head in the Toy Story movie series.

In addition to his Tonight Show appearances, he had his own ABC television show in the 70s, The Don Rickles Show, and was a regular on The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Addams Family and Gilligan’s Island.
