“Transformers: The Last Knight,” opened in first place at the North American box office this weekend, taking in $45.3 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada, according to estimates provided Sunday by the industry tracking group comScore.
The fifth installment in Michael Bay’s special effects franchise opened Wednesday, and has taken in $69 million domestically so far.
“Wonder Woman” and “Cars 3″ tied for second place, each claiming $25.1 million this weekend.
In fourth place was the shark thriller “47 Meters Down,” which took in $7.4 million.
Fifth place went to the Tupac Shakur biopic “All Eyez On Me” with $5.85 million.
Rounding out the 10 most popular movies in the United States and Canada this weekend, as estimated by the studios and collated by comScore, were “The Mummy” ($5.83 million), “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” ($5.2 million), “Rough Night” ($4.7 million), “Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie” ($4.2 million) and “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2″ ($3 million).
