The public is invited to submit comments and input to the Beverly Hills Traffic and Parking Commission, which will be reviewing strategies for parking on South Santa Monica Boulevard Thursday morning at 9 a.m. in City Hall.
Business owners, who have been most impacted by the removal of street-parking meters during the Santa Monica Boulevard reconstruction, have expressed their interest in restoring street parking. However, commissioners are impressed with the traffic flow, “leading some in the community to question the advisability of returning to pre-construction configuration of the street,” according to a press release from the City of Beverly Hills.
“Possible options to test complete streets/parking strategies upon completion of the North Santa Monic Boulevard Reconstruction project will be introduced to the Traffic & Parking Commission including returning the original parking configuration restoring parking on the north side of the street only, or other alternatives to allow for other modes of transportation. The intent of this discussion is to evaluate ways to improve the Santa Monica Boulevard corridor. It is anticipated that the Traffic & Parking Commission recommendation will be presented to the City Council in February.”
Any person who wishes to may comment on the subject either in writing, or in person at the meeting.
