Police made two arrests in the last week related to a fatal hit-and-run incident in late August in Beverly Hills.
Sue Young Sohn, 45, of Irvine, is believed to have been attempting to flee the country this week when she was arrested at LAX airport, waiting to board an afternoon flight to Seoul, South Korea, despite the fact that she had a pre-arranged appointment to meet with the Beverly Hills Police that same day.
Just days earlier, on Sept. 30, Tony Sun Jae Jung, 45 of Los Angeles, was arrested in Santa Clarita after police served a search warrant related to the investigation. He posted $100,000 bond on Oct. 1.
Police believe Jung and Sohn were the drivers in the fatal hit-and-run on Aug. 25 in the 300 block of N. Crescent Drive that killed 58-year-old Eliezer Malahi of West Hollywood. Police believe Jung and Sohn left a Beverly Hills area restaurant in separate cars just prior to the fatal collision and alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
John is currently on probation with Orange County Superior Court.
On Oct. 2, the L.A. County District Attorney filed counts of murder, gross vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run driving, driving with a suspended or revoked license under the influence and failing a blood alcohol test.
John is currently in custody with the L.A. County Sheriffs Department and is due to be arraigned Friday afternoon. Sung is due in court Nov. 30, 2015.
