Last week, Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills and Temple Isaiah celebrated the first anniversary of ChaiVillageLA, the nation’s first synagogue-based Village, with a ceremony at the temple.
Event keynote speaker L.A. City Attorney Mike Feuer talked about ChaiVillageLA as a model for replication throughout the city, noting that “it will create a ripple effect throughout this pond that is our city.”
The event drew 180 guests to celebrate the addition to the changing paradigm of aging. Part of a rapidly growing national Village movement, ChaiVillageLA is an old/new social venture of neighbors helping neighbors—a notion that enables people to continue living in their homes and communities as they age.
