This Week Our Featured Pets Are in Need of Special Help: Can You Help Them?

These great dogs have been through and lot, but they need that special home that will provide them with the care they need. They are at the Shelter Hope Pet Shop in the Janss Marketplace, located at 193 N. Moorpark Road, Suite F. Thousand Oaks, CA 91360, or

Please consider and forward this if you know of anyone who is that Special Person who can take these animals in:

King is a 2.5 year old Catahoula Hound mix. He was one of the Hurricane Harvey dogs that Shelter Hope rescued from Texas. Upon meeting him we realized he was one of the most gentle, kind souls we’d ever met and all fell in love with him immediately. That is until he encountered one of our other dogs and displayed “reactivity” (as many dogs, including mine and maybe yours). Knowing that he’d already been through a long journey we decided to thoroughly temperament test him at a later date and arranged a foster for him in a private environment where he could be segregated from other dogs. The next day at his initial vet visit we were devastated to learn that he had one of the worst cases of heart worm our vet had ever seen. Since then we have been doing our best to rehabilitate him with the medications he’s been prescribed…all the while falling deeper in love with his amazing spirit! However his next treatment will include a course of shots which will require him to be monitored much more closely than his current foster can provide. A new foster is needed urgently. We, along with King, are hoping that you or someone you know can provide the loving care he needs. We are looking for a foster with no other pets and a yard so he doesn’t have to go for long walks and risk upsetting his heart condition when encountering other dogs on the street. The special family that can provide this for this precious soul will surely benefit from being in the presence of his majesty, King.

Shelter Hope also has a mamma boxer and her pups who are now ready for adoption. This pretty girl has been through a lot to have her pups safely and they are healthy and happy boys. Please visit their website ( to see more.

Shelter Hope needs a car – and it doesn’t have to be pretty. It only has to run. The organization, run by Kim Sills, does so much good. Please consider them in your year-end donations.

Make a happy holiday for a homeless animal today, and enjoy your holidays.
