Composer, Pianist’s Latest CD Helps Bring Smiles To Children
When composer and pianist Oksana Kolesnikova got involved with the non-profit Smile Train and its life-changing work with children impacted with cleft lips and palates, she knew she had to do something.
She immediately felt compelled to help the organization’s singular mission in developing countries around the world. Long involved in charitable causes and passionate about sharing the gift of music, Kolesnikova began working on her Oksana & Friends music collection CD to support Smile Train’s work.
Kolesnikova, who tours internationally and currently performs five days a week at City venues, has recorded seven CDs that include collaborations with other international musical artists.
After her collaboration with Italian singing-sensation Silvia Vicinelli, who interpreted Oksana’s original composition Aurora, she focused on creating a collection “that would bring joy and inspiration to foster a sense of global community and responsibility for the well-being of all children,” she said.
This collection includes collaborations with Vicinelli and John Georgiadis, first violin, concertmaster and former conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra.
All proceeds from the CD help Smile Train provide free operations to poverty-stricken children needing cleft-related surgery in more than 75 developing countries. The CD is available at www.oksana-k.com/store
