By Matt Lopez

Two Beverly Hills High School performing arts students won top honors over the weekend at the prestigious John Raitt Awards For Youth (JRAY) for their roles in the school’s spring musical, The Secret Garden.

The John Raitt Awards for Youth ceremony is an annual event that selects winners in several categories, similar to the Tony® Awards. The JRAY Program operates under the umbrella organization of Fullerton Civic Light Opera Music Theatre (FCLO), under the direction of General Manager, Griff Duncan. FCLO was established 40 years ago and is a nonprofit association.

BHHS’ Leah Weissbuch won “Featured Actress Of The Year” for her role as Mary Lennox and Lina Hebert won “Soloist of the Year – Female” for her role as Lily.

Other Secret Garden cast and crew members nominated from BHHS were Anthony Lofaso (Featured Actor), Yassi Noubahar (Supporting Actress), Zoe Fisch (Stage Manager), Crew/Technical Execution, Costumes and Sets.
