SiliconBeachClearly: Chinese New Year Specials at Chi Lin
Happy New Year! The Year of the Horse officially begins January 31, 2014. In celebration of the holiday, from February 2-6, the entire food menu at Chi Lin will be priced at 50 percent off — all night long. That includes the signature Peking duck, normally priced at $68, as well as the Euro-Asian fusion decadence of the buttery long-life noodles topped with fresh black truffles.
Desserts, too, are included in the deal, such as the lychee bread pudding with passionfruit caramel and the parsnip cake with ginger cream cheese frosting. There’s also an aptly named Chinese New Year Cocktail for $5, which is made with apple liquor and Nigori sake. Make your reservations soon, as this Sunset Strip hot spot is normally packed even when the menu is at full price.
The impetus behind the promotion comes down to goodwill. Chi Lin Chef Tyson Wong explains, “We’re offering this special to our guests to extend the Chinese New Year blessing of good fortune, longevity and success. We wish our guests the best in 2014, the year of the horse.”
