Hollywood Sign Shuttle to Begin May 3

People interested in getting a closer look at the iconic Hollywood sign and taking in a panoramic view of Los Angeles will be able to catch a $7 shuttle on summer weekends starting next month.

The city’s Recreation and Parks Department will offer the service every Saturday and Sunday from May 3 until the end of July as part of an effort to relieve traffic congestion that tends to build in neighborhoods leading toward the popular landmark.

The service is “a program we are excited and proud to announce, and feel it will benefit both the surrounding communities as well as locals and tourists who wish to visit these historic landmarks,” Recreation and Parks General Manager Michael A. Shull said.

The shuttles, which seat 21 people, will pick up riders at the Greek Theatre parking lot and take them to a Hollywood Sign viewing spot that is closed to public vehicle traffic. The viewing site is also an access point for hiking trails.

The shuttle route includes a stop at the Griffith Observatory, two miles from the sign viewing area.

Children 2 years of age and under can ride free if they sit on an adult’s lap.
