SiliconBeachClearly: Buellton Brew Fest Starts Tonight
Kicking off Craft Beer Month in the Santa Ynez Valley, the third-annual Buellton Brew Fest event is taking place this Friday and Saturday, May 2 & 3. Organizers are promising an expanded roster of breweries — approximately 30 in total.
Among the breweries represented at the event will be area favorites like Firestone Walker and Tap It Brewing Co., as well as other California-based companies like Ballast Point and Coronado Brewing Co. Plus, look for popular further afield and international labels like Dogfish Head and New Belgium Brewing.
Produced by the Buellton Chamber of Commerce, the main event will be held in Buellton River View Park May 3 from noon-4 p.m. Guests are encouraged to BYO blankets and beach chairs for the outdoor happening, which will also feature live music by indie Americana duo Moonshiner Collective.
General admission is $35 per person and includes a souvenir glass and a lunch ticket. Designated driver tickets are priced at $20 and include entry and the lunch voucher.

A new component to this year’s festival is the VIP beer-pairing dinner held the night before (May 2) from 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the nearby Mendenhall Museum. The four-course, sit-down event will feature the beers of Figueroa Mountain Brewing Co. The meal will begin with pretzel sticks with romesco and Serrano ham, paired with the Danish Red; followed by Dungeness crab salad with a mango-lychee puree and blue corn chips, matched with a Lizard’s Mouth IPA.
For the third course, look forward to rack of lamb in Mexican-inspired mole sauce with grilled ramps and bone marrow, paired with the Davy Brown; finally onto a dessert of molten chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream, matched with a Big Cone Black Ale. Tickets are $75 for the meal alone, or $110 for an all-inclusive VIP package to both events, with special lounge-seating and extra tastings.
Note that both events are for adults 21 and over only, no children or pets. Valid, government-issued ID is required for entry.
