British Polo Day Benefit Comes To Will Rogers Park Saturday
By John L. Seitz
The Duke of Argyll, together with Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor, will join tomorrow’s celebration of the inaugural British Polo Day USA at Will Rogers Polo Club in Pacific Palisades.
As Great Britain gets ready to salute the anniversary of the coronation of HM Queen Elizabeth II on Monday, invited guests and spectators will enjoy festivities around a day of very British polo when a special salute will be made to the sportsmanship of the players and their horses at the prize-giving ceremony, following two high-octane polo matches.
Royal Salute Scotch Whisky is the sponsor. There will be a live auction for the benefit of Great Ormond Street Hospital and Homeboy Industries.
Commenting on the occasion, the Duke of Argyll said: “It is a great pleasure to return to California following the 2011 Foundation Polo Challenge in Santa Barbara, as a partner for British Polo Day USA as a partner.”
The first polo match begins at 3 p.m. and there will be a traditional half time divot stomp between each match. The last match finishes at 5:30 p.m. followed by a salute to the players and horses and prize giving.
British Polo Day showcases more than 30 top British luxury brands and acts as a conduit for championing craftsmanship and heritage in emerging markets.
