Wags and Walks will celebrate their 4th Annual Gala April 24 at the SLS Hotel Beverly Hills.

“I won’t leave until we have raised the funds to save two hundred dogs” said Founder Lesley Brog.   Each rescue bears a cost of about $500. This year Brog plans to save 1,000 animals, nearly double what the organization saved last year.

Wags and Walks saved 525 dogs in 2014 through their 501(c)(3) organization. On the day The Courier interviewed her,  Brog, who has conducted business from her kitchen table for four years, was in their new office preparing for the gala.

This day, upon dropping her daughter at school, a Bichon Frise was hit by a car. A broken pelvis and femur meant expensive surgery. “I will not turn my back despite the medical bills,” she said. “He is going to be fine. He had no chip or ID, but we will find him a home.”

Wags and Walks, based in West Los Angeles, is dedicated to rescuing family-friendly dogs from shelters and finding them suitable and safe permanent homes. Working with committed volunteers, foster homes, veterinarians and trainers, they provide them the everything they need and temporary care while seeking permanent, loving homes where they are well matched to their new environment.

Wags and Walks’ success is due to the support of their community who helps by providing a critical network of caregivers, spay and neuter services, veterinary care, foster care, recovery and placement for animals in our shelters. Among them, Layne Dicker and Sally Spencer and Scott and Leann Gibson, and Maria Menounos, will be honored at the Gala.

Ellen Levya and Garth Kemp of ABC7 Eyewitness News will emcee the evening’s entertainment.  Levya is a “Wags and Walks” adopter and Kemp is a dog rescue enthusiast.  So come and join like-minded individuals so Wags and Walks can continue to find dogs to rescue people.

The event will include the option of a VIP three-course dinner at 7 p.m. with individual tickets ($425) or a table for ten ($3,750). The reception at 8 p.m. features casino games, a DJ, silent auction, small bites and yummy desserts. VIP tickets  ($200) include the VIP Lounge and open bar and casino cash. General admission is $120 at
