Marking 75 years in 2015, the iconic Two Bunch Palms Spa Resort in the greater Palm Springs area has much to celebrate. Last year’s renovation of the 77-acre property resulted in 70 “soulful” new room accommodations, a farm-to-table restaurant Essense, a passive solar earth mound yoga dome and a new View Point conference center and meeting facility with views of the valley against the San Jacinto Mountains.

This physical transformation of the lush oasis, including the addition of a 3.5-acre solar field, puts Two Bunch Palms on the destination spa map as the first “Sustainable Wellness Resort” in North America and the first carbon-neutral resort. A legacy that spans several generations of guests—from notorious gangsters to Hollywood elite to romantic spa seekers—the property and its newest incarnation brings a rich and storied history full circle.

“It is an honor for my partners, our associates and me to be involved with one of the oldest operating hot springs spa resorts in North America and to celebrate Two Bunch Palms’ anniversary as we work to ensure these waters flow and traditions continue for another 75 years,” says CEO Kevin Kelly. “This tremendous milestone speaks to the legacy and spirit of this unique, hot mineral spring spa resort.”

While people have been coming to this site for more than 600 years, Two Bunch Palms was founded in 1940, the first hot springs spa resort in the country during the modern spa era. The most recent ownership that includes Hollywood producers, sustainability and spa experts have reawakened Two Bunch Palms by tying into its historic past and moving the spa industry forward by creating the “Sustainable Wellness” category with the installation of the solar farm.

This adult-only sanctuary (guests must be 18 or older) invites them to explore the four pillars of the resort: waters, spa, movement and cuisine. The renowned, natural lithium-infused spring grotto features two mineral water pools carefully kept at a consistent temperature to ensure therapeutic and mood-enhancing properties.

Guests are encouraged to “take to the 600-year old waters” and connect body with spirit before enjoying the spa, known for its intuitive healers and authentic treatments.

Known for its mud treatments made famous by the Hollywood movie The Player, it is also recognized for its Harbin-trained Watsu therapists and unique healing therapies.

With a nourished body, guests may partake in more than 35 wellness activities, such as meditation, juicing, art classes, tai chi, qigong, and yoga in the Celestial Dome.

Cap off a full day with drinks, music and dinner at the new Essense Restaurant, featuring healthier gourmet dining. The eclectic menu features “Nourishment” menu items vetted by a PhD nutritionist. Designed with a balanced range of vegetarian, vegan, gluten friendly and nutritional whole foods, it is “Conscious Cuisine” that is sustainable, local, seasonal and organic when possible. This farm-to-table experience also includes a once-a-month Vintner Dining Series with special guests and pairings from popular wineries.

A new feature of the property is the availability of meeting spaces. The Viewpoint meeting center, with seating for up to 60 people, is set high on the hill away from the grotto and restaurant and ideal for social celebrations, wellness-oriented meetings, yoga retreats and small executive think tanks.

The Celestial Dome can accommodate banquet functions for up to 200 people. The 234-square-foot Garden House offers a refreshing, quiet am-biance for more intimate settings of smaller gatherings of up to 20 people. And the Essense Patio Lounge can host up to 25 for cocktail receptions, lunch or dinner meetings.

The resort offers a variety of room packages and is open to day guests with reservations at the spa or Essense. For more information call 760-329-8791 or visit
