Candidates for the March City Council election in Beverly Hills began lining up to pull their papers at City Clerk Byron Pope’s office Monday morning at 7:30 a.m., beginning with Recreation and Parks Commission Chair Frances Bilak.

Traffic and Parking Commissioner Lester Friedman pulled his papers at 8:30 a.m.

Signed up with the City Clerk and ready to pull their papers are incumbent Councilmember Nancy Krasne, Metropolitan Water District Board Member Robert Wunderlich, resident Vera Markowitz, resident Robert Weinstein and City Treasurer Eliot Finkel.

Planning Commissioner Howard Fisher will be pulling papers for the race for  City Treasurer later this week.

Candidates have until Dec. 9 to pull their papers and return their completed forms and signatures assuming the incumbents, Nancy Krasne, Mayor John Mirisch and Councilmember Kathy Reims submit reelection papers. However, Reims signed a pledge not to run for City Council in March.

Assuming she does not pull papers as she pledged, the deadline will extend to Dec. 14.

Candidates must be residents registered to vote in Beverly Hills who are 18 years of age.
