Posted: Wednesday, March 29, 2017 – 11:02 AM
Today, Jersey Mike’s Subs is celebrating a “Day of Giving” by donating proceeds to Operation Gratitude, which sends care packages to the U.S. Military. The nearby sandwich spots at 279 S. Beverly Dr. in Beverly Hills and 4700 W. Pico Blvd., for example, will be donating 100 percent of today’s sales to the troops deployed abroad.
Throughout the month, Jersey Mike’s Subs throughout the Southland have been collecting donations on behalf of Operation Gratitude. In an effort to lift the spirits of U.S. men and women serving the country overseas, Operation Gratitude annually sends more than 150,000 care packages filled with snacks, entertainment, hygiene items, hand-made gifts and personal letters of appreciation.
On March 19, Operation Gratitude celebrated their 13th anniversary. Started in the kitchen of founder Carolyn Blashek, four care packages were shipped that day. A lot of care packages have been shipped since then.
Local Jersey Mike’s owner John Cotter, who has family in the military, has partnered his business with Operation Gratitude to send care packages to the troops for the past two years.
Jerssey Mike’s is open daily 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
