Plastic surgeon Dr. Ben Talei is constantly expanding the services and treatments at The Beverly Hills Center for Plastic & Laser Surgery.
He’s now readying the new holistic and naturalistic Aura Spa at his Roxbury Drive center, set to open in January. The spa will offer facial treatments including essential oils, aromatherapy electric and light stimulation, plus concentrated oxygen therapy.
He’s also planning to offer reflexology and acupressure and acupuncture for pain and post-operative healing. “It will be on the same floor as my practice,” says Talei, “but have its own specialists and a different energy.”
Talei’s philanthropic involvements include PADRES Contra el Cancer (Parents Against Cancer), with Eva Langoria as national spokeswoman, supporting families all over the world as their children go through cancer diagnosis and treatment.
He donates services to auctions for PADRES, and will host a “Yoga For A Cause” event, Sunday, Oct. 15 on his office’s 2,500-square-foot patio. The event with music is organized by Yoga by Rony, with a studio in Santa Monica. Attendance is $40 with all proceeds benefiting PADRES.
In his two-and-a-half years in Beverly Hills, Dr. Talei’s become the go-to surgeon for facelifts that are “extremely natural, but not so subtle that you don’t notice a difference.”
Dr. Talei completed his residency training in head and neck surgery at Columbia University and Cornell University Medical Centers. Following his residency training, Dr. Talei became one of the only surgeons in the country to complete two separate fellowships, first at the New York Center for Facial Plastic & Laser Surgery, while simultaneously serving as voluntary staff and teacher for the residents at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine. He then furthered his training at the Vascular Birthmark Institute of New York.
“My training gives me the ability to do more than other doctors can and keep things more natural; and that’s difficult to do for the face,” says Talei, “Everyone knows how bad plastic surgery can look. Nobody knows with my patients.”
He’s also expanding the scope of his hair-transplant practice to include more non-invasive treatments using the body’s own substances—Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stroma fat cells. Instead of transplantation, the cells are turned into a cream and mixed with a concentrated form of the blood plasma and microinjected several times into the scalp.
The procedure is highly effective for both men and women, Talei says, and he also uses it to treat deep scars on burn victims and to help heal scarring from botched surgeries.
Talei is also now known as the No. 1 “lip lifter” in the world. He’s made modifications to the procedure and become the busiest in the world with the treatment that helps lips damaged by injections.
He also active in the Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery (CRS) Program for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV). He will accept an award from the organization in a few weeks, recognizing his efforts as the largest single fundraiser for the nonprofit.
A car- and boat-racing enthusiast, he has organized track days and events at the marina (he keeps his cigarette boat at Marina del Rey) when attendees commit donations to the NCADV. An avid cook, he also hosted lunches and dinners where guests donate online.
