Los Angeles Zoo, Mayor Garcetti Team To Support Skid Row Hygiene Center

Community members can make Thanksgiving week extra special by giving back to a cause near home. The Los Angeles Zoo has partnered with Mayor Eric Garcetti’s initiative on solving homelessness by sponsoring a donation drive for the Skid Row Hygiene Center.

Beginning Monday, Nov. 20 through Thursday, Nov. 23, L.A. Zoo visitors can receive an adult or child general admission ticket for $10 by donating any product listed below at the Zoo admissions ticket window. Visitor must be present for discount. Limit one discounted ticket per person. To take advantage of this special offer, visitors can donate at least one qualifying item for each discounted ticket. GLAZA members will receive two free carousel tickets per donated item, limit one free offer per membership. Tickets are valid on the day issued only.

Items valid for donation:

• Towels

• Washcloth multi-pack

• Socks – male/female, all sizes (Pack of 3+)

• Underwear – male/female, all sizes (Pack of 3+)

• Baby diapers, pack of 24+

• Adult diapers, pack of 24+

• Feminine hygiene products, pack of 18+

• Laundry detergent, liquid 40 oz+ or pods 30 ct+

• Personal Care Kit ( 5+ travel size items in case)

• Small travel bags (duffels, totes, etc…)

• Sweatshirts or sweatpants — any size

All items must be  new in sealed packages or with tags.

Reindeer Romp: Now is the perfect time to visit the L.A. Zoo with tons of  holiday activities. Reindeer Romp is a rare chance to visit reindeer in their “Reindeer Village” habitat with reindeer facts and holiday photo ops daily. Weekend activities include make-your-own antler crafts, reindeer keeper talks at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and a rotating schedule of animals unwrapping “gifts” of their own. Visits with Santa Claus in a whimsical North Pole setting (for a nominal fee) take place on weekend days, Nov. 18 through Dec. 17, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a variety of photo packages available.

All Reindeer Romp activities, except Santa photos, are free with paid zoo admission. Also included with paid Zoo admission are daily close-up “Animals & You” encounters, shows, talks and guided experiences, training demonstrations and more.
