Dishing It Up With Sharon Insul—A Whimsical ‘Flight Of Fancy’ Table For Charity

Come sit with me for awhile and see what I’m bringing to the table…

The tablescape here was featured at the Blind Children’s Center’s Tables Than Bloom charity event last month at The California Club. “I’m late, I’m late, I’m late! For a very important date! No time to say hello, goodbye! I’m late, I’m late, I’m late!” Contrary to Mr. White Rabbit’s thinking, it really is never to late!

My collection of Alice in Wonderland candle holders happily danced around this flights of fancy themed table. While this was a daytime affair, lit candles were not only inappropriate, but also not fire code acceptable. Yes, yes, of course I adhered to all of the no-no’s just mentioned, but of course I had to put just a teeny-tiny, itsy-bitsy  piece of my two cents in and fill those holders with bright colored candles. No harm, no foul, just added color for pop, and fun.

Ahhh yes …. a word or two about the vintage bird cage. While Mr. Rabbit ran the show, Alice and her crew danced around looking whimsical. Now in the bird cage a whole other dance was taking place. One needed to watch closely as the blue birds, red robins, yellow parakeets, etc. were busy taking flight to their own music.

Sometimes it’s the little “stuff” that can make a big statement. Have a look at one of the place settings in the second photo. I marked each place setting with a large rose and green leaves made of french paper doilies in place of chargers. I used luncheon size garden floral motif napkins to work as a napkin ring tied with ivy-pattern ribbon. To top off each service, I added bright glitter colored eggs on a stick for a pop.
