The world debut and preview of an international museum exhibit about the 14-year old who conceived electronic television 1922 will be Saturday, August 11, at the Paley Center in Beverly Hills. The Philo Farnsworth Exhibit contains never-before displayed relics of the invention of television.

The amazing story will be told in a multimedia presentation of rare photos, exclusive videos, an interactive smart-phone tour and a display of the inventor’s personal items including the first electronic television cameras ever made.

14 of Farnsworth’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be in attendance.

Local historian Phil Savenick’s Televisionary Art will be on display in an adjacent gallery, depicting television as the world’s most pervasive and persuasive of cultural influences.

Following the preview in Beverly Hills, the exhibit will travel to Canada, where it will be displayed in the MZTV Museum in Toronto for one year.

The gallery opens at noon. At 4, 5:30 and 7 p.m., guided tours will be hosted by Beverly Hills Historical Society President Phil Savenick. After sunset, at a rooftop reception, the Beverly Hills Historical Society will celebrate the society’s Beverly Hills History in the Parks video installation series. The series, created with the generous support of resident Robbie Anderson, can be seen on your smart phone using QR codes.

The videos are currently available through discreet signage at the Lily Pond in Beverly Gardens Park. They will soon be available at Will Rogers park as well.

Savenick will be screening the 10 short videos that are now available on the parks at approximately 8 p.m.

The event is free.
