(CNS) – Embattled CBS Chairman Les Moonves was expected to resign Sunday or early Monday, several national news organizations reported at mid-morning, as the #metoo cultural movement claimed an industry titan.
CNBC, CNN and other news sites broke the story simultaneously at midmorning. The Los Angeles Times based its website report on the words of two people familiar with the matter, who were not authorized to comment publicly.
The Times reported that negotiations over the terms of his departure accelerated following a new report Sunday in the New Yorker magazine, which detailed six women’s allegations of sexual misconduct involving Moonves in the 1980s and 1990s.
Moonves, 68, has been negotiating a settlement with independent CBS board members in recent weeks, The Times reported.
