Temple Emanuel Accepting Offers On Building

“CBRE, Inc. is pleased to present a rare opportunity to purchase ±0.62 acres of land for the development of ±42 residential units (with Density Bonus) on Burton Way in Beverly Hills, California,” reads the ad on the CBRE website at

Temple Emanuel’s Youth Center building is for sale.

Several sources have confirmed that the Temple is experiencing financial difficulties from declining membership and other issues. The property is currently underutilized and has not been a school for several years, according to sources.

The building, located at 8844 Burton Way, was originally designed by Master Architect Sidney Eisenshtat and constructed as a school and youth center in the Late Modern style. The original temple is located one block south at 300 N. Clark Drive.

On Nov. 19, 2018, Christine Lazzaretto of Historic Resources Group, submitted an application for a Director’s Determination of Ineligibility for Landmark Designation.
