Since it was installed in 2007, Yayoi Kusama’s Hymn of Life: Tulips in Beverly Gardens Park has enchanted visitors with its whimsical shapes and bright colors, creating photo opportunities that have been shared the world over. The renowned Japanese artist is one of the most recognized and beloved female artists in the world.

Now, in order to preserve Hymn of Life: Tulips, the City has decided to re-fabricate the entire piece from stainless steel.

When it was commissioned, the City sought to create the sculpture with a steel frame encased in fiberglass and hand-painted, selecting a local firm, Ironwood, in Glendale, CA, as the most qualified.
