Cabaret luminary Steve Ross will bring his celebration of the Great American Songbook,  Cole Porter and Beyond, to the Wallis Annenberg’s Lovelace Theater as part of the performing arts center’s intimate Sorting Room programming at 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, June 14 and 15.

It’s a much anticipated return for Ross—he’s played the Cinegrill, Upright Cabaret and Vitello’s — whose duty, he says,  is “to represent the classics, the best America has to offer.

“The title means I can do anything,” says Ross, so while celebrating Porter, he can throw in his contemporaries like Irving Berlin. “They were unlikely friends and mutually helpful to each other’s careers.”
