‘Toy Story 4’ Obliterates Box-Office Competition with $118M Opening

“Toy Story 4” hauled in $118 million in its opening weekend to lead all films at the North American box office this weekend, according to industry estimates released Sunday.

In second-place — by about $104 million — was another film making its debut, “Child’s Play,” which took in $14 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada.

“Aladdin” was third with $12.2 million, “Men In Black International” was fourth with an estimated $10.7 million, and “The Secret Life of Pets 2” was fifth with $10.2 million, Comscore reported.

Rounding out the top 10 releases were “Rocketman” ($5.6 million), “John Wick: Chapter 3” ($4 million), “Godzilla: King Of The Monsters” ($3.7 million), “Dark Phoenix” ($3.6 million) and “Shaft” ($3.5 million).
