Memorial Service To Be Held For Slain Long Beach Police Dog

A memorial service will be held today for a Long Beach police dog who was fatally shot while working to apprehend a knife- wielding suspect who was also killed in the gunfire. Credo, a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois, was killed June 28 as police were trying to arrest a suspect wanted in connection with a December 2014 gang-related shooting. Credo had been with the department for about two years.

Man Arrested In Mission Hills Stabbing

A man was taken into custody today on suspicion of fatally stabbing another man in the Mission Hills area. The crime occurred at about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 13900 block of La Rue Street, according to the coroner's office and the Los Angeles Police Department.

Gunman Opens Fire On Police Officers In Baton Rouge, Killing At Least Three

A gunman killed at least three police officers and injured at least five more in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Sunday. Several of those injured were reported to be in critical condition. "The scene seems to be contained right now," Baton Rouge police spokesman Don Coppola told television station WAFB.
